Reggae Sumfest promises a stellar line-up once again. Reggae and dancehall icon Sean Paul, American hip-hop artist, Future and recording star Jason Derulo, are three of the big names scheduled to perform for the 22nd staging of the Festival at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay from July 13 – 19, 2014. They are among the international stars who will add substantial value and musical diversity to the world’s premier reggae music event.
Over the decades Reggae Sumfest has featured its fair share of multiple superstars, including Usher, Chris Brown, Flo Rida, Miguel and Ne-Yo. This year Jamaica’s own Grammy Award winning international reggae star Sean Paul, will once again take the stage. The artist returns to the stage in his home country as a global ambassador for Jamaica. Sean Paul said of his performance: ‘I’ll be bringing the love the world has shown for reggae music home’. In the ten years since he last performed on the Reggae Sumfest stage, Sean Paul has released four major label albums, topped the Billboard 100 charts and picked up one American and four MOBO awards.
Set for International Night I on Friday July 18, Jason Derulo will be making his first appearance in Jamaica The artist has been in the business since the age of 16, having started his career as a producer and writer for artists such as Danity Cane, Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Cassidy and Lady Gaga. He released his third international album Tattoos, which includes chart toppers ‘Talk Dirty’ and ‘The Other Side’ to share with his Jamaican fans.
The artist known as Future, famous for Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping singles and collaborations with Rihanna, Drake and Rick Ross, will also be joining the line up for International Night II on Saturday July 19, on his first appearance in Jamaica. According to Godfrey Dyer, Chairman of Summerfest Productions: ‘Every year we try to offer our fans the best that is out there musically. We expect Future to thrill the audience with a dynamic set’.
Reggae Sumfest will be staged from July 13 – 19 with a Beach Party on Sunday, July 13 at Aquasol Beach, the All White Party on Tuesday, July 15 at Pier 1 and stage shows from Thursday to Saturday at Catherine Hall.
