Trevor Sorbie Hampstead Salon celebrated its first birthday on Sunday 13th May and held a charity day to raise funds for Trevor's charity My New Hair. A huge £3907 was raised for the charity. Trevor was present at the event all day and was personally very touched to see everybody help a cause he feels so passionately about. The entire salon team worked for free, offering 25% off all services, meaning that every penny spent is going directly to My New Hair.
My New Hair is the pioneering charity founded by and inspired by Trevor Sorbie MBE. They provide public advice, and support a national network of independent salons and professionals who provide a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
Trevor feels that My New Hair isn't just about hair, it's psychological medicine for women suffering from hair loss through illness. Giving women back their hair – hair that looks natural, attractive and feminine – gives them back a little of the confidence to face the world in their darkest hour. It was Trevor's personal experience of helping a family member during cancer treatment that inspired the idea of My New Hair.
