An Aesthetic Analogy

Korlekie’s collection explores the meaning behind the melancholic beauty of Ophelia using her story as a foundation for creating delicate, womanly shapes that still holds true somewhat to the Gothic nature of the KORLEKIE brand.

For S/S14 Korlekie fused colour and craft to bring to light the exquisite textiles of fabrics and techniques used to create the phantasmagorial collection. Strong blacks and darker colours were weaved into patterns of the garments in an intricate tenebrous baroque way. Like vines trying to conceal the light, a metaphoric reference to Korlekie’s mysterious side. With heavy embellishments and intricate handwork, Beatrice utilises traditional techniques such as crochet, layering and weaving to create a luxury collection.

Silhouettes are simple with particular focus on the waist, neck and décolletage with shell like motifs and patterns and flowers that creep up from the beyond in textures of smooth, glossy and lacy fabrics that are mermaid like and ethereal. New techniques such as cross stitched jackets in glorious glittering hues adds flavour to tailored structures.
